Even though the adoptation of Toshiba's HD-DVD and Sony's Blu-Ray seems to be going incredibly slowly, the movie industry is actually making strides (albeit small ones) towards Hi-Def content. The cable and satellite companies are also moving in that direction, offering an ever increasing number of HD channels. The push for movie and television viewers to enter this HD era is definitely upon us.

With all the big screen tv's and home theatre getups that are invading our living rooms (and stoked-out basements), where does the pornographic video industry fit in? Gone are the days of the VHS empires that took the adult industry into our very own set-tops. Currently the industry is primarily in the DVD market, but will it be long before we see the Vivid Girls go at it in full 1080p glory (keep fingers crossed)? And if (or rather when) that day comes, what format will the flics be released in? Blue movies on Blu-Ray? Or will HD-DVD be the popular choice among the distributors? It might even be likely that we see them just skip the whole disc format completely and resort to the now ever so successful online distribution method. With all the home theatre media servers and players coming out, this makes complete sense. The infrastructure is already there - who cares about specific disc formats when many of the avid porno buffs are also probably the same guys who know how to setup the home media networks and stream Hi-Def content to their televisions. Consumers are demanding Hi-Def content and as always, the adult film industry will deliver. Some companies are already setting up shop to do just that. Take High Def Movie Pass - a site that claims to have over 300 hours of HD quality pornographic content. Hardcore Saints is another site that lets users download Hi-Def videos and pictures of their various models. MC-Nudes is yet even another, who offer HD movies in multiple formats of various wickedly body-kicking babes. Yes, the HD revolution is here and the adult movie industry is no doubt going to eat it up faster than I'd volunteer to lick whipped cream off of Veronika Zemanova's boobies.
